March MOMs Meeting Recap!

We had a great turnout today and a very fun time! Chrissy shared helpful hints on "spring cleaning." Hopefully we can put her hints to good use.

Melissa & Bethany filled in for Sara this month since she is in the process of moving into a new house. We wrapped twine around a flower pot and planted a tulip in it. Very cute for the spring season. Also went along nicely with our "home decor" theme. Thank you Melissa & Bethany for volunteering your time. You both did a great job!

Evelyn Denton was our guest speaker. She showed us new spring & summer decor and encouraged us to have a warm home and to throw in a few "fun" or "whimsical' decorations.
Evelyn also shared a devotion with us. Thank you Evelyn for giving your time!

Thanks to those who volunteered to make goodies for our childcare workers...
Month of April- Katy Van Es
Month of May- Karey Turnipseed

Thanks to those who volunteered to decorate a table for April MOMs...
1. Terri Palfreeman
2. Jane Goodman & Brandi Richardson
3. Bethany Walker
4. Ginger Cloud

Thanks to Amanda Johnson for volunteering to sub in for Chrissy next month with helpful hints. Don't forget to email your "helpful hints" to tnajohnson@suddenlink.net. Email Amanda something that you think you are good at (organizing, planning meals, shopping for groceries, cleaning your home, discipline, prioritizing motherhood & marriage, etc.) or share anything that you think would be helpful advice for other moms in our group. (finding a good time for reading God's Word, finding time for a shower/getting ready, getting the family ready on Sunday morning, being involved in good things, but not over comitting, etc.) These are just a few topics that came to my mine, but it can be anything. Let's share our advice with each other so that we can learn from each other and know that we are not in this alone. It's hard work being a mom!

Next month, Connie Campbell will be our guest speaker. She will be speaking on "Teaching Your Children to Love God's Word." Mark your calendars now for Friday, April 16th.

Tomorrow is the Deadline!

Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow is the deadline to sign-up and purchase tickets for February MOMs. You can purchase your ticket at the preschool desk at FBC. I will pick up the sign-up sheet after Mother's Day Out on Tuesday afternoon. If you do not get a chance to go by the church to purchase your ticket, give me a call at 968-4646 tomorrow.

Sue Knight has asked her friend, Thia Brown to come and speak with her about marriage. Sue has been married for 50+ years. Thia has been married three times and will be sharing about some wrong choices that she made in her marriages. I think we will gain a lot of insight from these two women in our church. You won't want to miss it!

Don't forget to bring a sack lunch for your child!

January MOMs Recap

craft time by Sara

" out with the old...in with the new..." NAME TAGS!

cake plate makin'

helpful hints on parenting by Chrissy

cake decorating demo by Meg

Jane and her buttercream ;)

Megan's Basic Buttercream :
1/2 c.melted real butter (margarine will make it look yellowed)
1/2 c. crisco
4 c. powdered sugar
splash of vanilla
splash of almond
1/4 water or milk
(any other clear flavorings can be added to taste,
such as lemon, orange, coconut, peppermint, etc.)
Cake Devo: "If you were a cake..."
1. If you were a cake, what flavor would you be?
2. Do you find yourself not appreciating the flavor that God made you and wishing you were red velvet even if God made you strawberry? Be grateful for the way God made you.
3. Find out what are good counterparts to your flavor; find friends who compliment your flavor and who you can compliment. Discover ways to compliment others (husband and children and friends) who might be opposite flavors than yourself.
4. If you were a cake, how are you layers?
5.If you are not allowing God to level you out and trim off the unuseable parts, it is evident in every part of our lives. Sometimes we can be a little over the top by ourselves, we need Christ to level us out and get us in line with him.
6. If you are not level, it doesn't matter how much "icing" or "decorations" we put on. Your physical and spiritual life will still seem out of balance and the whole thing may seem like it's going to tumble over. Just like a cake.
7.Do you have a hardened crust of bitterness, a lack of worship in your batter or an unbalanced schedule? Let God help you with your layers.
8. When we allow God to shape us and mold us and change our recipe, we will end up being a wonderfully flavored woman with even balanced layers that everyone can see was crafted with love, purpose and passion.

About Me

My photo
My husband, Gabe, and I grew up in the same hometown, however, it was not until later on in life that he "discovered" me. We got married in 2007 and had our first child, Madison Grace, in 2009. In 2010, we had our second child, Logan Carter. Life is pretty crazy with two toddlers only 18 months apart, but we wouldn't have it any other way. I guess... ;)
